  2. Your behind the couch ledge turned out great! I love the way the lamps look with the mirror too!

I had a similar idea and turned to Pinterest for inspiration pics. I am hoping to do the same thing to our front living room/sitting room behind our sofa. I think it would be a great place for smaller frames and fresh flowers in front of the window! :)

  4. Where did you find the gorgeous lamps??!! Love!

  5. We just talked about doing the exact thing in our den. The shape lamps you found are perfect! Where did you find those?

  6. The lamps are from HomeGoods and unfortunately that means they not be available everywhere, or at all anymore. I purchased them last fall. Good luck!

  7. I LOVE your console shelf, lamps, and LOVE your new light fixture. For some reason I never think of going to Overstock.com but will have to add that to my shopping places. You've done a great job.

  8. Thank you, Carolyn! Overstock has some great deals!

The wall color color in the dining room is Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige.

  9. What type of wood did you buy from Home Depot? Did you have any issues staining it? Looks great!!!

  10. How thick was the wood you bought?

  11. I love the wood behind your loveseat. I think that is such a great idea. I blogged about your idea today and linked back to you. I hope you'll come and check it out.

  12. Such a GREAT idea to just mount a shelf behind the sofa!!! It looks great, and I love your throw pillow inspiration.

  13. I love this idea especially for limited spaces and those throw pillows above are fabulous. Do you sew? You can always snag the fabrics you want and sew them up for much lower cost than buying them. Just a thought:)
Found your blog from the Pinterest links.

  14. Thanks, all!

I really wish I was a better blogger...but apparently I didn't take too much notice regarding the type/size of wood I bought. I do know that it was around 10 feet long and I cut it to size. It was around $13 for the whole piece. Staining was easy. Just wiped on some miniwax in dark walnut and rubbed on a coat of poly. Wish I could be a little more helpful!

  15. At the end of the board do you have it just open?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yes, it is just open. You could easily put a fabric skirt on the end or even just add a piece of the wood. The end of mine is facing the back corner of the room so I didn't find it necessary to cover up!

  17. WOW! Thanks for the inspiration...I can't wait to get my materials ready for this project. How many L brackets did you have to use and about how far apart did you place them?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I used 4 "L" brackets and put them where I had studs in the wall. Hope that helps:)

  20. I need that shelf! Actually, I kept thinking table but now I'll do my own shelf...thank you!!

  21. Hi! I'm so glad I found your blog through Pinterest! We just rearranged our living room but realized that we no longer had room for end tables on the side of the couch, which also means no lamps or pictures! Not good! But this morning I found your behind the couch shelf idea and I was so excited! We were saved! Thank you! My husband immediately went to Home Depot to get the brackets. My hubby owns a flooring company and he had some beautiful Brazilian Cherry pre finished flooring. He just stained the edges and we were golden! It came out perfect! I'm going to try to send you a pic. We have a lot more we want to do to our living room, including taking down the wallpaper & then painting, but for now we are so pleased with how it's turning out. Thanks for the inspiration!
